It's been a while since we posted anything on here. We are still meeting every Thursday at St Mary & St Egwin's Church Hall in Evesham.
Why not pop in and join in? We start at 8pm and will warmly welcome you. We sing in two, three and four part harmony from Abba to Simon and Garfunkel, African songs to Sea Shanties. We were all very sad to hear that Vale Connection's founder, Sylvia, had passed away peacefully today after a long illness. Our deep condolences have been sent to her widower and our former MD, Eddie, and to all her family.
A service of Thanksgiving for Sylvia's life was held at Pershore Abbey on 28th March and Chorus members, current and past, attended and reminisced about all the good times they had shared with Sylvia. Vale Connection will celebrate its 30th birthday in September so Sylvia has created a lasting legacy that has brought much pleasure to many. We were delighted to be invited to entertain the residents of Yates Court for Christmas. We wore our Christmas jumpers and stood by the Christmas tree to perform a lovely Christmas set featuring traditional Christmas carols and also some modern seasonal songs. It was definitely 'beginning to feel a lot like Christmas' when we had finished!
We were delighted to return to the Kempsey Cornflowers and sing them some of our new general repertoire and also start Christmas a little early with some seasonal ditties. The audience really enjoyed our performance and even joined in with a few songs.
On a warm June evening we met by The Almonry, Evesham to warm up our voices before opening the Open Mike night at The Red Lion. We sang some of our new repertoire including Feelin' Groovy and finished with our sea shanty collection including the well know Lockdown hit, The Wellerman. The audience was very appreciative and joined in somewhat raucously. It was a fabulous evening great enjoyed by all.
We were delighted to be asked to sing for the Kempsey Cornflowers and. despite our MD and stand in MD being unavailable, decided to perform. Everyone rose to the challenge and as well as singing to our audience, we taught the audience a couple of songs so they could sing with us which they loved. It was a very successful event.
On 26th January we held and Open Rehearsal in the hope that we would recruit some new singers. Unfortunately despite extensive advertising on facebook, in the Evesham Journal and with a poster and flyer campaign we were joined by only two lovely ladies, neither of whom decided to join us despite enjoying our company. Choirs don't seem to be in vogue following Covid unfortunately although we remain optimistic that the situation will improve in the future.
We had a great time at a sing out at Austen Court . We warmed up with a few new songs in our repertoire....all good practise. We then sang all our favourite Christmas songs from Bony M's Marys Boy Child to Bing Crosby's White Christmas. We were made to feel very welcome and it was a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
